Best foot forward: Sophie Turner, 21, said Wednesday that production on the upcoming series of?Game of Thrones is expected to go another?six or seven months in an interview with Variety. She was snapped last week in NYC?
The English star, a staple of the series' entire run, said that there was a sentimental vibe as cast and crew congregated to commence work on the last season of the smash hit.
'When we all had the read-through for the final season, it was very, very emotional,' she said. 'For the first time in Thrones history, we had everyone there. All of the Americans wanted to come over. Every single cast member was pretty much there.'
Turner said that with the finish line in sight, no one is taking anything for granted.
'We’re all kind of feeling the end of it coming,' she said. 'We’re all staying in town a little longer, going out for more meals, trying to get together more. We’re all trying not to take it for granted any more.'
Trademark: Sophie's career has taken off in her role as Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones?
Foreshadowing: Turner said that 'a new threat' awaits Sansa come season eight?
The actress revealed that her character, Sansa Stark, won't be coasting as the series wraps up, as she has a 'big challenge' on the horizon in season eight, despite being in the catbird seat as season seven drew to a close.
'It’s going to be tricky for [Sansa], because at the end of last season, she felt that she had everything set up. She had her family back together. They were in control of the North again,' Turner said. 'This season, there’s a new threat, and all of a sudden she finds herself somewhat back in the deep end.'
Sansa will be in uncharted waters without the presence of Petyr 'Littlefinger' Baelish (played by Aidan Gillen), according to Turner.
Surging: Turner's career and personal life are thriving, as she has a key role in the X-Men series as Jean Grey/Phoenix, and got engaged in October to singer Joe Jonas
'It’s a test for her of whether she can get through it ... without this master manipulator having her back,' she said. 'This season is more a passionate fight for her than a political, manipulative kind of fight.'
In a case of how 'life imitated art,' Turner said she'll miss working alongside Gillen, who she described as the 'backbone of' the series for her.
'Out of all the people I’ve worked with on the show, he has been the one who was consistent throughout, from season one to season seven,' she said of the actor, who's currently working on the plagued Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody.

'He has been my Game of Thrones experience,' Turner said. 'So to say goodbye to him was pretty hard ... because he was also my mentor.
'I learned so many lessons just by watching him act. It was this weird parallel, and an emotional thing for everyone.'
Past Game of Thrones, Turner's career and personal life are thriving, as she has a key role in the X-Men series as Jean Grey/Phoenix, and got engaged in October to singer Joe Jonas.
