Saoirse Ronan was so nervous about seeing her movie Lady Bird for the first time that she had to have a stiff drink.

The 23-year-old actress revealed her first night nerves during an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Tuesday evening.

'The first person I watched it with was one of my best mates and I was so nervous going in to watch it.

'I said, "I think we should have some alcohol before we watch the film," ’ Saoirse shared.

She continued: 'And with the result, we were just an emotional wreck!'

The movie is set in a Catholic high school and Saoirse also talked about teaching her co-star Beanie Feldstein how to say the Hail Mary.?

On Monday the Irish born, New-York raised star won the Best Actress award for playing Christine 'Lady Bird' McPherson at the Gotham Independent Awards.

Director, Greta Gerwig, was also nominated for Best Breathrough Director and Best Screenplay but missed out in both categories to Jordan Peele and his screenplay for Get Out.?

Lady Bird is a comedy about a high school student, played by Saoirse, and her often difficult relationship with her gal pals and mother Marion, played by Laurie Metcalf.
