EXCLUSIVE: 'We have to be more creative!' Tamara Ecclestone insists she still has a sex life with husband Jay Rutland despite toddler Sophia sleeping in their bed... and says she is desperate for him to 'stop working' and 'spend more time with her'
She is a billionaire heiress who has famously defended her parenting style including continuing to breastfeed her three-year-old daughter as well as allowing her to share her marital bed.
But Tamara Ecclestone has fired back at her critics and revealed her and husband Jay Rutland keep the romance alive in their relationship, by being ‘creative’ in the bedroom.
In an exclusive interview with MailOnline, the 33-year-old star, currently appearing in ITVBe reality show Tamara’s World, praised her supportive partner and refuted any suggestion he would feel 'left out' by Sophia being in the bed with them.

Happy love life: Tamara Ecclestone has insisted that her love life with Jay Rutland is 'more creative' now that they have a daughter together
She said: 'I mean, we just have to be more creative in other ways. That’s not really a struggle in our lives.
'He secretly loved having her in the bed. It’s something that we agree on. So it’s really, really nice. It’s good that Jay and I are on the same page.'
The brunette beauty said while delighted with the success of Tamara's World, she was most happy with her husband Jay being seen in a different light.
Gushing over the devoted father she said: 'It was really important for me and Jay to see him in his own right. A lot of people are like he just spends Tamara’s money. And things like that could not be further than the truth.
Spicing things up: The duo are working hard to keep the spark alive in their relationship
Happy home: The heiress, who stars in her own ITVBe reality show, has said that she wants to spend more time with her husband at home
Domestic goddess: In a tea party thrown at her lavish London home, Tamara explained what life is really like when the cameras aren't rolling
She did however express that she is desperate for Jay, who she wed in a ￡7m wedding in 2013, to ‘stop working’ and spend more time with her.
She continued: 'It's the other way round, I’m like Jay stop working. Let’s do things together. He’s a workaholic and he’s been so successful in everything he’s done and I’m so proud of him. I am proud of him and I did want that to come across in the show
Protective Jay recently took to Instagram to call out a troll who wished death on his precious daughter, with Tamara saying although she doesn't necessarily agree with responding, she knows Jay is defending their family 'out of love'
She said: 'I don’t know why he does it I think it’s because he loves us and its sweet, but then I'm like ‘do not give these people the time of day because they don’t deserve it’.
Just the three of us: Devoted to her young daughter Sophia as a stay at home mum, Tamara says it's hard to see husband Jay go out to work every day
'With Jay if it’s about him, he doesn’t care. But me and Sophia, it really hurts him. It's sweet but in a way I’m like it gives these people airtime and they don’t deserve it. It’s a tough one, but I know he’s doing it out of love.'
Something that has become as synonymous with Tamara as a ￡1m crystal bath tub and F1 is her stance on breastfeeding little Sophia.
The star, a staunch advocate of Attachment Parenting has been forced to defend her decision to continue to continue to nurse the almost four-year-old and says she finds it 'sad' when people judge and criticise her.
Tamara said: 'I feel like parenting really polarises people and I don’t really understand why people are so opinionated. As a mum, I never truly judge, I know we’re doing our best.
She got it from her papa: Tamara is the heiress (along with sister Petra, left) to father Bernie Ecclestone's Formula 1 fortune
'Even though I truly know that breastfeeding is best, I would never judge someone that didn’t. Everyone has their own journey, their own reasons. As mums we should all support each other.
'As a woman, I think it’s sad that people can be so negative.’
Tamara has a refreshing attitude to dealing with trolls and says 'It kind of makes me laugh because I’m like how miserable must you be in your own life to even register and write those comments.
'I would never dream of ever being that kind of person. The good and positive are what’s important to me.'
Sister, sister: Speaking about her decision to show her daughter's face, where sister Petra has decided to keep her children's identity under wraps, Tamara said that she was proud of her daughter
In response to the negativity levelled at her over Sophia's luxury lifestyle including a recent admission that the little girl's favourite way to travel is by private jet with a Happy Meal, Tamara said the couple make an effort to educate Sophia about charity and donating her toys.
She said: 'Listen, obviously she has a very very nice life but we do so much for charity, I make her go through her closet with me and we clear out her toys and I'm like ‘okay what do you not want anymore’ so we give those to kids who don’t have toys – we went shopping and bought Christmas gifts for the children at Great Ormond Street and I tell her you know not everyone is as lucky as you are.
'She doesn’t get it yet, because she’s three. But I think if those messages are there while she’s growing up, that’s important.'
Tamara also said she had developed a thick skin around the criticism and feels empowered by the support she receives from the parenting community.
She said: 'I feel kind of indifferent about it. When I look at my messages on Instagram and see my DMs from people that have been empowered by me to continue breastfeeding, despite mother in laws or friends telling them to stop and this isn’t normal, you shouldn't co-sleep etc – but I have such supportive messages from people.
'Someone came up to me on holiday and was like I’m able to breastfeed my child by the pool now because of you. So when I get messages like that, a handful of messages like that mean more to me than a 100 negative messages.'
When asked about the possibility of adding to her brood someday along the line, Tamara wouldn't rule out having more children but admitted she was content with her current family life.
She said: ‘It's not something I would really really want. I'm really happy with the three of us. But then, I have a sister and I’m so close to her so I would want Sophia to have a sibling or something.
'There’s no other bond like it. To me, friends are not the same as my sister. So…I will one day, but not yet.'
The most amazing journey: Tamara spoke about her desires to have more children in the future
And a confident Tamara said she would stick to her AP style if she had another child, saying 'I would do everything the same. I feel like it’s been that most amazing journey. If I could replicate it, I would.
During the candid chat Tamara admitted that it was never 'her dream' growing up to get married and start a family, but that meeting her soulmate Jay changed everything.
They wed in front of 150 guests at the French Riviera's most luxurious hotel with sheathed in a couture Vera Wang gown complete with 30ft train and crystals on the bodice.
She took her first dance as Mrs Rutland to a cover of Lionel Richie’s Endless Love, performed live by Mariah Carey — hired for ￡2.5 million, with Elton John paid a reported ￡1m to perform also.
Embracing motherhood: Tamara has previously come under fire for her decision to breastfeed her three-year-old daughter
She said: 'I met Jay and I knew I wanted to have kids with him I had Sophia and everything changed. I didn’t want to have a nanny.
'I bought a bunch of formula that I was going to mix feed her. I was like ‘oh when I go out someone could feed her a bottle ‘and then I was like ‘what am I going to do with all this formula??’ Since having her all my opinions have completely changed.'
Tamara said her whole outlook on life is now different, adding that her idea of a perfect evening is now enjoying a film at home with her family rather than wild nights out.
She said: 'My perspective couldn't be more different to be honest. I’ve done a complete 180. Everything that’s important to me now is my daughter, her health, her happiness, how she’s doing, my family, my husband, nieces and nephews. It’s all about kids and family.
Perspective: A former party girl, Tamara has said that motherhood has changed he perspective on everything
It’s not about nights out anymore. I'm 33 now, I feel very settled, I feel very calm, I’m glad I did what I did, I got everything out of my system and now I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything. I feel content to be at home and just watching a movie.
'Like today I was like Jay, please can we watch Love actually? I need a Christmas movie!
As the daughters of F1 tycoon Bernie Ecclestone, estimated to be worth ￡2.5bn, and his model ex-wife Slavica, Tamara and Petra were born into a life of privilege but Tamara said the siblings were just like any other kids when they were growing up.
She said: 'To be honest, it didn’t click until much later on because all the friendships you make when you’re kids are really innocent and not based on money.’
Tamara and Jay bought their Kensington home for ￡45million back in 2011, but it is believed to have now doubled in value. The star said she sees it as a 'forever home'
The 57 room pad has 50 full-time staff members but Tamara is adamant that the three of them do have time together alone as a family in the home.
Happy families:?Tamara also revealed that despite an estimated ￡5m wardrobe she loves a bargain
She said: 'I mean, no one lives here. So in the evenings, it’s just us and in the mornings there’s no one here
'So a lot of the times it’s just the three of us. It’s a big house, so you need staff to help maintain it. But never feel they’re in the way – because by 6 o'clock everyone’s gone and then just us.'
Tamara also revealed that despite an estimated ￡5m wardrobe she loves a bargain as much as the next person saying 'I've only been to a Poundland and not bought anything) but I love shopping at Costco. Costco is the dream!
Besides focusing on her family and her successful businesses, Tamara has also been a rock for her younger sister Petra, 28, during her acrimonious ￡5.5bn divorce from James Stunt.
Although Tamara is unable to comment on the current situation, she spoke of her respect and love for her 'inspiration' of a sister, and revealed the family will be spending the festive period at Petra's LA mansion.
She said: 'We are so close , I feel like if something bad is happening to someone you're so close to, it literally feels like it’s happening to you . But she’s behaved like such a lady. She’s been strong and an inspiration. She’s come out the other side and she’s strong.'
Working dad: Similar to her father, who has worked all his life, Tamara is trying to convince Jay that he can be at home more
Although incredibly open about breastfeeding and her parenting style with Sophia, Tamara said she has no concerns about her daughter being bullied when she starts school, with the couple pledging to give their girl a 'normal childhood'.
Viewers of Tamara's World saw the star break down as she prepared to spend her first moments away from Sophia when she started nursery
She said: 'When I take her to school, she goes in on her scooter. I wouldn't dream of dropping her off in a Rolls Royce.
'Of course I want her to have nice things, but at the same time I want her to have a normal childhood, go to the park, go on her scooter, have playdates after school.
'A lot of the things we do are so normal and exactly what her friends do.'
Tamara and Jay have chosen to share Sophia's early life with their fans, with hundreds of thousands following the happy couple on social media to gain a unique insight into their lives.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, Petra has chosen to keep her children out of the spotlight
Speaking about her decision she said: When Fifi was born we did put a picture of her on Instagram, we just decided that we’re proud of her, so we don’t have a problem with showing her.
All about family: Following the release of her reality show, Tamara has put a brave face on criticism
'I think everyone has different opinions but to us it’s something we agree on as a family. We have a lot of security in the house and all these measures in place so I think that makes a difference.'
Tamara revealed she has also had support from celebrities including a message from former Atomic Kitten star Jenny Frost who was unable to make her wedding due to having young children to care for.
Tamara said of the message: ‘She was like ‘I just wanted to let you know I’ve seen your show and now you know how I felt, that I couldn’t come to your wedding because of children.’
‘Yeah I do get really positive messages, it’s nice as a woman, to have that kind of community of women and sticking together.'
When asked if she had managed to keep up to date with her friendship circles since becoming a mother, the star admitted: 'To be honest, I see my friends that have kids a lot more and my sister. Things have become a lot more different in that way. I think that’s natural.'
The star also said her father had been a huge inspiration for her in her career and life. She said: 'Business is something that’s important to me and Jay - I grew up seeing my dad being an entrepreneur.
'My business projects are something that are important to me, so I’m happy and passionate about it and don’t want to sit back and be like I’m set and I’m done.'
