Putting Detroit even more ahead is the fact that Founders Brewing Co., one of the nation's top beermakers is set to open a satellite brewery, restaurant and taproom next month in the city. ?

Founders is currently based in Grand Rapids, but the location set to open in Detroit in the South Cass neighborhood on December 4 will be the company's first new location in its 20-year history.?

The soon-to-be new popular destination comes complete with 14,000 square feet of space that will 'let our fans on the east side of the state experience the something special,'?Founders Brewing Co. President Dave Engbers and CEO Mike Stevens said in a press release.

Founders, which is the country's 16th largest brewery, currently distributes beer in 46 states and 27 countries.?

'Founders has a dedicated, hard-core customer base,' Susan Mosey, executive director of Midtown Detroit, Inc., told Food and Wine.??

Midtown Detroit Inc. helped to partner with Invest Detroit in order to assist Founders site the facility. ?

Plus, Motor City Brewing Works & Winery is also located nearby in the city (above)

The new location will have unique beers brewed on a three-barrel system and will be served on 18 taps. Plus, the seasonal and specialty beers will also be brought in from the Grand Rapids location.?

Of the new location in Detroit, which is the state's largest municipality, Stevens told Food and Wine:'Detroit has been hit hard economically and the town has a real fighter's spirit.?

'It's that same spirit that lives within our brewery's history. We're looking forward to being a part of the rebirth of one of America's greatest cities.'

Just steps away from the new Founders location, HopCat beer bar, Detroit's oldest continuously operating brewery, Motor City Brewing Works, and other beer-centric bars can be found.??

But in 2018, the South Cass neighborhood is also set to have a full-sized brewery that will complement three brewing programs that are offered by Eastern Michigan University, Food and Wine reported.??
