Dean McDermott has lashed out at his ex-wife Mary Jo Eustace over claims he owes $100,000 in unpaid child support and is a 'deadbeat dad'.
Speaking exclusively to DailyMailTV, the 50-year-old actor admitted that he was behind on alimony payments to his ex but said that he had always supported their son, Jack, 19, and was tired of being portrayed in a negative light.
'I have taken this for years and this is the first time I've talked to anybody but I've had it,' Dean said.?
'This is a woman who is trying to exact revenge. She's constantly in the press, calling me a deadbeat dad and saying these charges are for delinquent child support. They are not.'

Dean McDermott has lashed out at his ex-wife Mary Jo Eustace over claims he owes $100,000 in unpaid child support and is a 'deadbeat dad,' to his eldest son Jack, 19 (left)?
Mary Jo, 55, filed a court order for contempt against her ex last month because his monthly alimony payments of $1,500 had stopped. She also claimed Dean failed to pay Jack's rent and instead spends his money on vacations with his family?
She told DailyMailTV earlier this month that she had been more than fair over the years, even writing off large amounts of the spousal and child support he owed her.
'I want to be clear - I signed off on three years of child support that my ex-husband did not have to pay. I cut him a break on that and covered everything,' Mary Jo said.
Dean, who is now married to Tori Spelling, said that the only issue was his late alimony and that he intended to pay as quickly as he could.
He said: 'I do not deny that I owe her money. I have tried countless times to work things out with her. She knows I'm an actor, she knew that when she married me all those years ago. The business is up and down. I'm not making a ton of money right now.
'I got behind on it but I will pay. I told her upfront I was having a hard time financially. I reached out to Mary Jo to discuss it and work it out. Instead of being a normal human being and working it out with me, she went to the courts and put me on notice.?
'My late alimony payments incur interest and I can't keep up with the interest. This number just keeps growing. Let me make this perfectly clear - up until the last eight months of alimony that I owe her, I never missed an alimony or child support payment.'
He added: 'I'm not the guy who is portrayed in the press. I'm a good guy, a great actor, a great dad and a great husband. I'm just a good guy trying to make it in Hollywood. I'm tired of being the whipping boy and for her to get away with this. It's been almost 13 years, can we move on?'
Dean went on to have five children with Tori Spelling, 44, and have also suffered well-documented financial woes and been on the brink of bankruptcy for years (Pictured last week with kids?sons Liam, 10, Finn, five, Beau, six months and daughters Stella, nine, and seven-year-old Hattie)?
Dean also hit back at claims that he and Tori spend lavishly on expensive vacations. He says their recent trip to Iceland (above) was 'an all-expenses-paid trip that Tori received from the beauty company she works for'
Mary Jo and Dean divorced in 2006 after he had an affair with Tori Spelling while they were filming a Lifetime TV movie in Canada. Dean and Tori married on May 7, 2006 and went on to have five children.
Tori, 44, and Dean, who have starred in a string of reality shows about their relationship, have also suffered well-documented financial woes and been on the brink of bankruptcy for years, with reported debts of more than $1 million owed to the IRS, American Express, and other financial institutions.
Dean said that he and Tori were working daily on overcoming their money problems.
He said: 'We are not going through anything that other actors or regular people in America are going through. You just put your head down and try to get through it the best you can, provide for your kids and have a nice life.'
Dean told DailyMailTV that he was unaware of Mary Jo's latest court order, filed on October 10, and had not been served with court papers.
Mary Jo confirmed to DailyMailTV on Tuesday that their scheduled November 16 court date had been canceled because she was unable to serve her ex-husband with the court order. She planned to refile later this week.
Although Dean had previously said he had not been in touch with his ex-wife for some time, he told DailyMailTV on Tuesday that she had reached out to him with a text message.
'Mary Jo is being very amicable right now. I don't know why but all in all, that's a good thing,' he said. 'I always look forward to working things out amicably because that's how I think it should be.?
Dean McDermott and ex-wife Mary Jo Eustace were seen talking outside the courtroom during a hearing in March. At the time, she says she took pity on him and withdrew her complaint. He had faced eight counts of contempt, a criminal trial and potentially jail time over his unpaid support
'Relationships don't work out but there's no reason why you can't work on things for the greater good and in this scenario, that is Jack.
'I don't see why we can't make this amicable and not go to court. At the end of the day, it's a little nonsensical. Everybody has their ups and downs. Let's not make it difficult for each other. Hopefully this is a step in a new direction.'
In March, Dean tearfully told a judge that he would keep up with his alimony payments after Mary Jo withdrew her complaint. He had faced eight counts of contempt, a criminal trial and potentially jail time over his unpaid support.
Now the threat of jail looms over him again if he cannot meet the $1,500 monthly payments. 'I just don't see what is going to happen if I get sent to jail. What does that benefit anybody?
'It embarrasses our son. He's the one who is going to get hurt by it the most. He's striking out and starting his own life and then it's like, your dad went from deadbeat dad to a jailbird?
'It's going to definitely hurt Tori and my family. This is all about revenge.'
In the complaint, filed in October, Mary Jo wrote: 'Dean has stopped paying again. In the last six weeks he has been on two luxurious vacations, Iceland and The Four Seasons in Punta Mita.?
'He resides in a 2million dollar estate paid by his mother-in-law Candy Spelling and has no impetus to work. He owes over $100,000 moving forward and I believe he has no intention of paying. He bounces my son's university rent/tuition and is delinquent in paying therapist bills, while he shops visibly and throws lavish parties for his other five children.'
Dean hit back at the allegation that his mother-in-law, Candy Spelling, pays for his lifestyle.
'Here's the thing that makes no sense whatsoever – Mary Jo continues to say that Candy Spelling pays for our life,' he said. 'If that were the case, do you not think that I would have paid Mary Jo off a long time ago? Because I want nothing to do with the woman.
'Do you think that I want this s*** hovering over my head? And in the newspapers, on the entertainment shows and in magazines at the check-outs which my kids read?
'My son Jack just called me because he just saw some trash in a magazine and he asked, 'Is Tori pregnant again?' I just saw it too at the grocery store checkout. It's disgusting.'
Mary Jo and Dean married in 1993 and divorced in 2006 after he had an affair with Tori Spelling while they were filming a Lifetime TV movie in Canada
Dean, pictured with son Jack, in an undated photo, described himself as ?'a father-of-six, trying to make it in a very difficult and fickle business'
'My kids ask me - are you and mommy divorcing? Are you going to jail? How do you think that makes my kids feel?
He added: 'This is horrible, Mary Jo has been doing this now for years, trashing me in the press. Who does that if they are having problems with alimony with their ex-husband? Who runs to the press? Someone who wants to exact revenge and make me look like an a**.
'She keeps rehashing the same claims - that I won't get a job; Candy Spelling pays for my life; that I'm a deadbeat dad and that I owe child support. I don't.'
Dean denied Mary Jo's claim that he had fell to his knees and claimed that he regretted leaving her for Tori. 'It doesn't dignify a response. There was no discussion of the sort.
'It's quite evident by all the past and present press that there is a smear campaign going on here [by Mary Jo] to make Tori and myself look bad.'
Dean also explained that their luxury vacations were paid for through business deals.
He said: 'Mary Jo complains about the trips we go on. The Iceland trip was an all-expenses paid trip that Tori received from the beauty company she works for and has successfully built, Beauty Box By Tori.
'The Mexico trip and the St. Regis Monarch Bay Report in Dana Point, California were due to our long relationships with these two resorts. They give us free vacations in order for social media posts. Mary Jo's not stupid – she knows how the social media game works.'
Dean also denied that he had bounced a rent check for Jack's university accommodation.
He explained: 'The rent payment is made through a portal and I set up the portal wrong. I put in a payment amount of $1,001 but it is supposed to be $1,100.
Mary Jo now raises her two kids on her own, Jack and daughter Lola. Before the couple's divorce, the two were in the process of adopting a child, but Dean withdrew his name from the adoption papers and Mary Jo carried on as a single parent. Her daughter, Lola, is now 12
'So the portal being automated, it declined the payment and showed that it was outstanding. They [portal payment operators] never contacted me until two and half weeks after this happened, so they put the boys' apartment on notice for a late payment of rent.
'If I'd been told of the mistake, I would have remedied it right away.'
Dean said he had made good on the rent payment for his son. 'Jack and I worked that out,' he said.
He added: 'He's going to a San Francisco university right now and Mary Jo refuses to be a co-signer on his apartment. She tells him, 'Your Dad should do it.'
The father-of-six also said that he had paid for everything Jack needed when he was growing up.
'Jack lived with me and Tori for a year when he was 17. I paid for Jack's private schooling. I also paid for anything over and above.
'He would come to the house with holes in his shoes and socks. I would ask him, 'Buddy, what's going on?' and he would say, 'Mom says you need to buy me new clothes.'
'He would come to us with ripped, torn clothes, ripped socks. I paid for everything outside of what she should have been using the child support for.
'She should have been putting clothes on his back as well. She just took all the alimony and child support and did whatever with it.
'Jack never saw any of it towards books, clothing, and extracurricular stuff. If he wanted to go anywhere with friends, he always asked me for money, I would give it to him. His mom wouldn't do it.'
Dean also rubbished the idea that he was living in a mansion on his mother-in-law's dime – and that he and Tori had moved there without telling Jack.
'I want to make something else clear. Our home costs $1,000 more a month than our place in Encino. It was $7,500 a month but it was run down. The place was also right on the street, we didn't have a gated entrance. It was wide open, you could walk up to our house. People would knock on our door looking for autographs and I had people coming into our backyard looking for Tori. We couldn't live like that for the safety of my wife and kids.
'We moved quickly because too many people seemed to know where we lived. But it wasn't done in the middle of the night without Jack's knowledge. And Tori never has thrown Jack out of the house.'
'We moved about 18 miles west, so you get more bang for your buck. We happened to find this amazing place for $8,500 a month in a gated community.'
Dean hit back at claims that he was refusing to work. He has recently been working on a heist thriller called Desolate and starred alongside Danny Trejo in Dead Again in Tombstone, released in September. Dean said he was focusing on moving away from his reality show past.
'I want to get back into the scripted world and shake the reality star moniker. The reality thing was a lot of fun but I would like to move forward and put it behind me. As of my 51st birthday on Thursday, I'll have been in the business for 31 years as an actor.
'For five of those years, I did reality TV but that's all I'm known for now. I do encourage people to go and look at my IMDB. I have a great body of work as a dramatic and comedic actor.
'It's check to check but we do every little job that we can. I'm not regularly on a series. Believe me, once I get that gig, I'm paying Mary Jo off. Done. I want to be rid of this woman. She's a bad person.
'I am a father-of-six, trying to make it in a very difficult and fickle business. I am trying to make a living to support my family and this does not help. Do you know how many jobs I've lost because of this?
'I've taken this for years but I'm tired of this. I just refuse to sit by and be quiet anymore.'
He added: 'I'm a good guy, I'm a good husband, and I love my wife. We love each other, we have six amazing kids. I'm just tired of being portrayed as a deadbeat dad.
'I don't understand why this keeps happening. People openly want me to do things for them and for charities.'
Earlier this month, Dean and Tori attended a fundraiser for UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital in Santa Monica and Dean is grand marshal for annual LA Ride For Autism.
'When I see other celebrities, they embrace me, they love me, they know me. To have this stuff floating out there is just so wrong because I'm not that guy.
'Mary Jo is doing this because she can't get publicity for herself.'?
